| Detailed Description | * WHAT. Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 8 inches. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph. * WHERE. Dalton Highway Summits. * WHEN. From 1 PM Saturday to 7 AM AKDT Sunday. * IMPACTS. Travel could be very difficult. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS. The first heavy snowfall for portions of the Interior is expected Saturday into Saturday. Snowfall will increase in coverage and intensity through the afternoon and evening hours across the Interior, with the heaviest snowfall expected for the Dalton Highway Summits. Snow rates will be highest during the late evening hours where a brief period of one inch an hour may occur. Snow will taper down overnight. Strong winds will accompany the snow at onset, with gusts to 40 mph, before diminishing overnight as well. |
