At 9:49 AM ADT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing strong wind gusts and heavy rain. Maximum rainfall rates: 20 to 30 mm per hour in thunderstorms. Locations: in the path include: Flat River, Wood Islands, Murray River, Montague. Time span: ending later this morning. Remarks: A severe thunderstorm producing torrential downpours located over Flat River and is moving east at 40 km/h. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Rainfall rates: 15 to 25 mm/h, except possibly higher in thunderstorms. Locations: Queens and Kings counties. Time span: this morning. Remarks: Heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms have formed over northern Nova Scotia and are tracking towards the eastern half of the island.
