10:32 AM CST Tuesday 17 September 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect for: R.M. of White Valley including Eastend and Ravenscrag Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain. Severe thunderstorms continue for some in southern Saskatchewan late Tuesday morning. A few of these storms may continue into the Outlook and Humboldt regions this afternoon before dissipating later today. Further south, severe thunderstorm activity, notably near the international border, is expected to develop late this afternoon or during the evening hours. These storms are expected to move northwards during the late evening time period and may very well persist into the overnight hours across much of the south. Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Intense lightning is likely with any thunderstorm that develops. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Heavy downpours are likely to cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
