| Detailed Description | 5:52 PM CST Wednesday 18 September 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Warning in effect for: R.M. of Moosomin including Moosomin Welwyn and Fleming At 5:52 PM CST, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing very strong wind gusts, up to nickel size hail and heavy rain. This severe thunderstorm is located near Moosomin and is moving towards the north-northwest at 40 km/h. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Intense lightning is likely with any thunderstorm that develops. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall. Watches 5:47 PM CST Wednesday 18 September 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect for: R.M. of Moosomin including Moosomin Welwyn and Fleming Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain. The main threats from these severe thunderstorms will be: - Rainfall in excess of 50 mm - Wind gusts in excess of 90 km/h - Hail to the size of nickels - Risk of a tornado The risk for severe thunderstorms will diminish by midnight tonight. Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles.
