Brief Description Freezing Rain Warning
Detailed Description Ice build-up due to freezing rain is expected or occurring. Locations: Red Bay to Cartwright, inland areas of Red Bay to L'Anse-au-Clair, and the Eagle River region, mainly east of Crooks Lake. Total freezing rain amounts: 5 to 15 mm along the coast and locally 15 to 25 mm inland. Time span: ending early Sunday morning. Similar storms in the past have caused: - hazardous driving conditions - cancellations of scheduled activities - disruptions to transportation networks and public services - damage to trees and utility infrastructure - power outages Remarks: Rain can be expected along parts of the coast where temperatures stay just above zero. Precipitation over all areas will transition to snow overnight tonight or early Sunday morning. ### Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots will become icy, slippery and hazardous. Road closures are likely. Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces.
