| Detailed Description | 1:46 PM ADT Tuesday 13 August 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Warning in effect for: Victoria County At 1:45 PM ADT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing up to nickel size hail and heavy rain. Radar indicates that some places in Victoria County may receive 50 to 75 mm of rain in thunderstorms over a short time frame. Additional rainfall amounts are possible. Heavy downpours are likely to cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall. Watches 12:44 PM ADT Tuesday 13 August 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect for: Victoria County Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing heavy rain. Scattered thunderstorms will continue into the afternoon for much of Cape Breton. Some areas could see heavy downpours and local flooding. In addition hail up to 2 cm and gusty winds are possible.
