Brief Description Flood Watch
Detailed Description The Flood Watch is extended for the following rivers in Illinois. Des Plaines River near Gurnee affecting Lake IL zone. Des Plaines River near Des Plaines affecting Central Cook and Northern Cook zones. Des Plaines River at Lincolnshire affecting Lake IL and Northern Cook zones. Des Plaines River near Russell affecting Lake IL zone. Des Plaines River at Riverside affecting Central Cook zone. For the Des Plaines River. including Gurnee, Lincolnshire, Des Plaines, Riverside, Russell. flooding is possible. * WHAT. Flooding is possible. * WHERE. Des Plaines River from Roosevelt Road in Forest Park downstream to Hodgkins, including the Riverside gauge. * WHEN. From late tonight to Wednesday morning. * IMPACTS. At 7.0 feet, Water begins to overflow banks in adjacent forest preserve areas. At 7.5 feet, Low-lying sections of Miller Meadow, Indian Gardens, Cermak Woods, Ottawa Trail Woods, and other forest land along the river are inundated. At 8.0 feet, Park areas are inundated near Confluence of Des Plaines River and Salt Creek. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS. - At 7:45 PM CDT Monday the stage was 6.1 feet. - Forecast. The river may crest near 7.5 to 8 feet on Tuesday. - Flood stage is 7.5 feet. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
