| Detailed Description | 10:32 PM ADT Saturday 3 August 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Warning in effect for: Woodstock and Carleton County At 10:31 PM ADT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing strong wind gusts, pea to dime size hail and heavy rain. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall. Time span: Sunday, potentially into Monday for southern New Brunswick. Maximum daytime temperatures: 28 to 30 degrees Celsius (Humidex 37 to 39), except cooler along parts of the coast. Minimum overnight temperatures: 20 degrees Celsius. Locations: most of New Brunswick. Remarks: A combination of very warm temperatures and elevated humidity will continue to give high humidex values. Check several times a day on older family, friends and neighbours. Make sure they are cool and drinking water. Never leave people, particularly children, or pets inside a parked vehicle. Heat warnings are issued when very high temperature or humidity conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion. Watches 10:36 PM ADT Saturday 3 August 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect for: Woodstock and Carleton County Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain. Potential rainfall rates: 25 mm per hour or higher. Potential wind gusts: 90 km/h or higher. Locations: northern New Brunswick. Time span: this evening. Remarks: Lines of thunderstorms may continue to develop this evening. Localized downpours and strong wind gusts may accompany some of the thunderstorms. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Be prepared for severe weather. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
