Brief Description Special Weather Statement
Detailed Description Invest 95W is centered near 9N151E, just near Fananu in Chuuk State. Invest 95W has moved west-northwest over the past 24 hours, but looks to make a turn toward the northwest over the next day or two. This system is expected to slowly strengthen over the next few days. The Joint Typhoon Warning Center rates the potential of 95W becoming a significant tropical cyclone over the next 24 hours as "Medium". 95W is producing scattered to numerous showers and isolated thunderstorms across eastern Pohnpei and western Chuuk States and north of the center. Between 4 and 8 inches of rainfall is expected to fall on Chuuk tonight through early Tuesday morning. If the system slows in its forward motion and consolidates earlier, rainfall amounts may be even higher. Additionally, strong gusts will be possible with the heavier showers tonight through Monday night, but uncertainty remains high at this time for more pronounced wind threats. Numerical model guidance indicates 95W will consolidate and intensify through the first half of the week, with most of this development to likely happen once it exits Chuuk State to the northwest towards the Marianas.
