Brief Description TROPICAL CYCLONE INFORMATION STATEMENT (ERNESTO)
Detailed Description 11:20 PM NDT Monday 19 August 2024 Rainfall Warning in effect for: Avalon Peninsula Southeast Rain, at times heavy, is expected. Locations: southern Avalon Peninsula. Total rainfall: 50 mm, except locally 80 mm or more in areas of heaviest rain. This is in addition to the leading band of showers that occurred earlier today. Time span: continuing until early morning. Similar storms in the past have caused: - hazardous driving conditions from water pooling on roadways - localized flooding, especially in poor drainage areas Remarks: Rainfall rates of 20 to 25 mm per hour may occur over some locations tonight. Watch for possible washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts. Rainfall warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected.
