1:00 AM EDT Monday 26 August 2024 Heat Warning in effect for: Chatham-Kent - Rondeau Park A heat event will begin today and last through tomorrow. Maximum temperatures are expected to be between 30 and 32 degrees Celsius, while minimum temperatures are expected to be between 20 and 22 degrees Celsius. Humidex values will be in the high thirties to low forties. These hot temperatures may may last through Wednesday, however, this is dependent on how widespread shower and thunderstorm activity will be on Tuesday. Cooler temperatures are expected by Wednesday night. Extreme heat can affect everyone?s health. The health risks are greater for older adults, infants and young children, pregnant people, people with physical and/or mental illnesses, and people with disabilities or mobility issues. Drink plenty of water regularly, even before you feel thirsty to decrease your risk of dehydration. Thirst is not a good indicator of dehydration. Never leave people, particularly children, or pets inside a parked vehicle. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
