Brief Description Special Weather Statement
Detailed Description Strong low pressure will develop in the Western Bering Sea and produce strong southerly winds around 30 to 55 mph with the strongest winds in the Bering Strait beginning Friday evening and continuing into Sunday. There will also be Gale-Force winds over the water with elevated water levels of 3 to 5 feet for the Eastern Norton Sound, and 2 to 3 feet for the Bering Strait and Chukchi Sea coast. Additionally, heavy rainfall will occur across Northwest Alaska and down to the Seward Peninsula. Rain accumulations of 1 to 2 inches expected in these areas through Sunday. Strong winds will diminish some on Monday but rain showers will continue for much of the west coast on Monday. Stay tuned to the latest forecast updates at www.weather.gov/afg
