Detailed Description |
3:37 PM MDT Friday 9 August 2024 Heat Warning in effect for: Ft. Liard Region including Nahanni Butte - Sambaa K''e Unseasonably warm temperatures continue. Daytime high temperatures will range between 29 to 35 degrees Celsius. Overnight lows will be between 14 and 19 degrees Celsius, which will not give much relief from the heat. Temperatures will moderate on Tuesday. Extreme heat can affect everyone?s health. The health risks are greater for older adults, infants and young children, pregnant people, people with physical and/or mental illnesses, and people with disabilities or mobility issues. Watch for the effects of heat illness: swelling, rash, cramps, fainting, heat exhaustion, heat stroke and the worsening of some health conditions. Heat stroke is a medical emergency! Call 911 or your local emergency number immediately if you or someone you are caring for has a high body temperature and are confused, has stopped sweating or becomes unconscious. While waiting for help, cool the person right away: move them to a cool place, apply cold water to large areas of the skin and fan the person as much as possible. Heat warnings are issued when very high temperature or humidity conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion.
