| Detailed Description | 11:20 PM NDT Sunday 28 July 2024 Heat Warning in effect for: Green Bay - White Bay Hot and humid weather is expected to continue. Time span: continuing through Tuesday, possibly until Friday. Maximum daytime temperatures (Monday and Tuesday): 29 to 32 degrees Celsius (Humidex 34 to 38). Minimum overnight temperatures: 19 to 21 degrees Celsius. Locations: central and northeastern Newfoundland. Remarks: The warmest temperatures will be experienced inland and where winds blow off the land, while cooler conditions are expected where winds blow onshore and along the immediate coastline. Little relief can be expected at night with elevated overnight temperatures. Current indications are that high temperatures will be less widespread Wednesday and heat criteria may only be reached for certain regions of northeast Newfoundland in the vicinity of Grand Falls-Windsor and Gander. However, heat is expected to become more widespread once again throughout all regions of central and northeast Newfoundland on Thursday. Extreme heat can affect everyone?s health. Drink plenty of water regularly, even before you feel thirsty to decrease your risk of dehydration. Thirst is not a good indicator of dehydration. Reduce your heat risk. Schedule outdoor activities during the coolest parts of the day. Heat warnings are issued when very high temperature or humidity conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion.
