| Detailed Description | 8:07 PM EDT Monday 29 July 2024 Rainfall Warning in effect for: Kapuskasing - Hearst - Smooth Rock Falls Rain, at times heavy, is expected. Hazard: Local rainfall amounts of 50 to 70 mm. Timing: This evening. Discussion: An area of slow moving thunderstorms located from the Shoals Provincial Park north to Hearst and Kapuskasing and northwest of Fraserdale is producing locally heavy rainfall. For information concerning flooding, please consult your local Conservation Authority or Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry office. Visit Ontario.ca/floods for the latest details. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. Heavy rainfall in combination with other weather factors, such as hail, wind and lightning will make outdoor activities unsafe. If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. The daytime highs from today should gradually taper overnight tonight bringing an end to this heat event. The heat warning may return Wednesday and Thursday. Extreme heat can affect everyone?s health. The health risks are greater for older adults, infants and young children, pregnant people, people with physical and/or mental illnesses, and people with disabilities or mobility issues.
