| Detailed Description | 3:56 PM EDT Wednesday 4 September 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Warning in effect for: Summer Beaver - Wunnummin Lake - Kingfisher Lake At 2:55 PM CDT (3:55 p.m. EDT), Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing very strong wind gusts, up to toonie size hail and heavy rain. This line of severe thunderstorms is located from 35 kilometres south of Webequie to Littleford Lake, moving east at 80 km/h. Hazard: Toonie size hail and 90 km/h wind gusts. Locations impacted include: Fort Hope, Otoskwin-Attawapiskat River Provincial , Nanos Lake, Deshane Lake, Otoskwin Lake, Mamiegowish Lake, Obustiga Lake, Badesdawa Lake, Totogan Lake, Eyes Lake, Keezhik Lake, Kabania Lake, Ozhiski Lake, Petawanga Lake, Bosworth Lake, Machawaian Lake, Gibbons Lake, Eabamet Lake, Lansdowne House and Reynolds Lake. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Emergency Management Ontario recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches. Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall. Discussion: Severe thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon and evening. The main threats with these thunderstorms are strong wind gusts and toonie size hail. Heavy downpours are also possible with these storms. Large hail can damage property and cause injury.
