1:42 PM MDT Thursday 2 May 2024 Snowfall Warning in effect for: Grise Fiord A long period of snowfall with total amounts of 20 to 30 cm is expected. A long duration snowfall event is expected with total amounts of up to 30 cm possible. A series of low pressure systems is forecast to move into Grise Fiord with the first bringing heavy snow beginning on Friday morning. The heaviest snow will fall during the day with 10 to 15 cm of snow expected before the snow tapers off Saturday morning. This snowfall may be accompanied with some blowing snow, giving near zero visibility at times. A second system will impact the community on Saturday evening bringing another 5 to 10 cm of snow. A third system on Sunday could possibly bring even more snow with another 10 to 20 cm possible. Conditions will improve on Monday. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Travel is not recommended. Take frequent breaks and avoid strain when clearing snow. Snowfall warnings are issued when significant snowfall is expected.
