Maximum daytime temperatures of near 30 degrees Celsius are expected, with humidex values approaching 37. Overnight minimum temperatures will be 17 to 20 degrees Celsius. There is a possibility that showers and thunderstorms may keep maximum daytime temperatures a few degrees cooler on Sunday for parts of northwestern Ontario. At this time, a cooler and less humid airmass is expected to arrive Sunday night. Extreme heat can affect everyone?s health. The health risks are greater for older adults, infants and young children, pregnant people, people with physical and/or mental illnesses, and people with disabilities or mobility issues. Hazards: Local rainfall amounts exceeding 50 mm. Timing: Now through this evening. Discussion: Several rounds of thunderstorms will produce locally heavy rainfall. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance. Watch for possible washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.
