A Tropical Disturbance with a newly formed weak circulation, labeled as Invest Area 99W by the Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC) is centered north-northwest of Pohnpei at 10N157E. Invest 99W has gradually drifted a little to the west-northwest. Across Pohnpei, and the northwest Marshall Islands, large areas of heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms have been developing in the cyclonically curved flow around the circulation associated with 99W. Areas of heavy showers and locally gusty winds will continue over the region while 99W is nearby, probably for the next couple of days. Also, marine conditions will be locally hazardous near heavy showers with wind gusts of 25 knots and combined seas of 5 to 8 feet at times. Residents and Mariners in Pohnpei and the northwest Marshall Islands should monitor the latest statements issued by local Emergency Management officials and keep informed with the latest forecasts. Relay any reports of wind damage, flooding or landslides to local officials for relay to the Guam National Weather Service (NWS). More information can be found JTWC's website www.metoc.navy.mil/jtwc/jtwc.html and the NWS Guam website at weather.gov/gum/PublicForecasts.
