3:14 PM ADT Tuesday 13 August 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Warning in effect for: Sydney Metro and Cape Breton County At 3:13 PM ADT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing pea to dime size hail and heavy rain. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall. Scattered thunderstorms will continue into the afternoon. Some areas could see heavy downpours and local flooding. In addition hail up to 2 cm and gusty winds are possible.
