| Detailed Description | 3:52 PM ADT Thursday 1 August 2024 Heat Warning in effect for: Prince County P.E.I. Humidex values reaching 36 are expected for the next 2 days. A period of very warm and humid weather is expected. Time span: Friday and Saturday Maximum temperature Friday: 28 degrees Celsius (Humidex 36). Minimum temperature Friday night: 19 degrees Celsius. Maximum temperature Saturday: 28 degrees Celsius (Humidex 36). Locations: Prince Edward Island. Remarks: Cooler conditions can be expected along parts of the coast. The health risks are greater for older adults, infants and young children, pregnant people, people with physical and/or mental illnesses, and people with disabilities or mobility issues. Check several times a day on older family, friends and neighbours. Make sure they are cool and drinking water. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing heavy rain. Potential rainfall rates: 20 to 25 mm per hour, possibly higher. Locations: Prince and Queens counties. Time span: ending late this evening. Remarks: A cluster of thunderstorms moving into the region could produce a short period of torrential downpours over some areas this evening. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
