10:18 PM EDT Wednesday 22 May 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect for: Stirling - Tweed - South Frontenac Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts and large hail. Hazards: 90 km/h wind gusts Up to toonie sized hail Timing: Until after midnight. Discussion: Thunderstorms continue to move east across southern Ontario this evening, but should slowly weaken as the night progresses. There is still a threat that some of these thunderstorms may become severe until after midnight. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Emergency Management Ontario recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches. Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
