Brief Description Flood Warning
Detailed Description The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Florida. St Johns River Near Astor affecting Lake and Volusia Counties. .The Saint Johns River at Astor will remain in Major Flood for the foreseeable future, as northerly winds slow its decline. River levels are forecast to remain steady around 4.3 feet through early next week. Residents and interests along the Saint Johns River should be prepared for prolonged major flood impacts. For the St. Johns River. including Above Lake Harney, Sanford, Deland, Astor. Major flooding is forecast. Additional information is available at www.weather.gov. The next statement will be issued Friday afternoon at 1215 PM EDT. * WHAT. Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast. This approaches the flood of record. * WHERE. St Johns River near Astor. * WHEN. Until further notice. * IMPACTS. At 4.5 feet, Major widespread and long duration flooding occurs, with water rescues and evacuations necessary. Most low-lying homes become uninhabitable due to 2 to 3 feet water depth in many areas of the community on or near the river. Water reaches Front Street south of SR-40. Areas off of Riveredge Drive are inaccessible. Water surrounds and enters homes on Riverview Drive and Claire Street. Most areas near the Astor Landing Camptround are inaccessible due to knee-deep water. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS. - At 8:30 AM EDT Thursday the stage was 4.3 feet. - Bankfull stage is 2.0 feet. - Recent Activity. The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 8:30 AM EDT Thursday was 4.4 feet. - Forecast. The river is expected to remain steady in Major Flood Stage at 4.3 feet. - Flood stage is 2.3 feet. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
