Brief Description HEAT WARNING
Detailed Description 8:18 PM MDT Sunday 4 August 2024 Heat Warning in effect for: Aklavik Region Unseasonably warm temperatures are expected from Monday to Thursday this week. Daytime high temperatures from 28 to 33 degrees Celsius are expected starting on Monday. Overnight lows will be between 16 and 22 degrees Celsius, which will not give much relief from the heat. Temperatures will be cooler on Friday. Extreme heat can affect everyone?s health. The health risks are greater for older adults, infants and young children, pregnant people, people with physical and/or mental illnesses, and people with disabilities or mobility issues. Drink plenty of water regularly, even before you feel thirsty to decrease your risk of dehydration. Thirst is not a good indicator of dehydration. Check several times a day on older family, friends and neighbours. Make sure they are cool and drinking water. Never leave people, particularly children, or pets inside a parked vehicle.
