| Detailed Description | 4:35 PM ADT Sunday 30 June 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Warning in effect for: Stanley - Doaktown - Blackville Area At 4:35 PM ADT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing very strong wind gusts, pea to dime size hail and heavy rain. Maximum wind gusts: 90 to 110 km/h in thunderstorms. Potential hail size: 1 to 2 cm. Maximum rainfall rates: locally 25 mm per hour in thunderstorms. Locations: Carleton county, southern sections of Mount Carleton including the Renous, and communities along route 8 to the Miramichi area. Time span: until 6.00 pm. Remarks: Radar is detecting a line of severe thunderstorms between Woodstock, the Renous, and communities along route 8 to Miramichi. The motion is eastward at 70 km/h. Very strong wind gusts and large hail are associated with these thunderstorms. Also, Radar is indicating some rotating motion within two of the strongest clusters, one near Boiestown the other south of Sunny Corner. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Intense lightning is likely with any thunderstorm that develops. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall. Potential wind gusts near thunderstorms: 90 km/h or higher. Potential rainfall rates: 25 mm per hour or higher. Potential hail size: 1-2 cm. Locations: Most of New Brunswick. Time span: this afternoon and this evening. Very strong wind gusts can damage buildings, down trees and blow large vehicles off the road. Intense lightning is likely with any thunderstorm that develops. Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
