| Detailed Description | * WHAT. East winds 45 to 65 mph with gusts up to 75 mph expected. * WHERE. Kodiak Island. * WHEN. From 7 AM to 4 PM AKDT Friday. * IMPACTS. High winds could move loose debris, damage property, and cause power outages. Travel could be difficult. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS. A strong front expected to reach the western Gulf of Alaska by Friday morning. Easterly winds will rapidly increase across Kodiak Island and east-northeast through Shelikof Strait. Damaging winds could be erratic and abrupt in and around terrain with potentially higher gusts possible through east-west gaps in terrain into Shelikof Strait. The front is expected to lift north of Kodiak Island by late afternoon. |
