Where: Dease Lake, Muncho Lake, Tetsa River, Jade City and portions of the Cassiar mountains, Hwy 97 south of Watson Lake. When: Later tonight through Tuesday evening What: Rain and localized thunderstorm downpours giving rainfall amounts near 50 mm. Remarks: A slowly moving trough rotating through these northern B.C. regions will bring heavy rains and possibly embedded thunderstorms. Rain will begin later tonight or early Tuesday morning and ease Tuesday evening. Rain may persist south of Watson Lake and near Jade City Tuesday night. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Heavy rainfall in combination with other weather factors, such as hail, wind and lightning will make outdoor activities unsafe. Very large hail can damage property, break windows, dent vehicles and cause serious injury. Very strong wind gusts can damage buildings, down trees and blow large vehicles off the road. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
