| Detailed Description | 2:04 AM CDT Thursday 22 August 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect for: R.M. of Yellowhead incl. Shoal Lake and Elphinstone Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain. Time span: Late this evening into the over night. Summary: Severe storms over Saskatchewan will continue to spread northeastward across the border into Manitoba late tonight and into the overnight. The main risks are damaging winds and large hail. Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
