9:18 AM CDT Saturday 24 August 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect for: R.M. of Dauphin incl. Sifton and Valley River Conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, damaging hail and torrential rain. Thunderstorms continue across southwest Manitoba. Some of these thunderstorms will be severe. Heavy rain and large hail are the prevailing threats into the morning hours. Very large hail can damage property, break windows, dent vehicles and cause serious injury. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
