| Detailed Description | 10:12 PM EDT Thursday 13 June 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Warning in effect for: Stirling - Tweed - Madoc Tamworth - Sydenham - South Frontenac At 10:12 PM EDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing very strong wind gusts, up to nickel size hail and heavy rain. This line of severe thunderstorms is located from 8 kilometres northeast of Silver Lake Provincial Park to 9 kilometres west of Tamworth to Orland, moving east at 60 km/h. Hazard: Up to 100 km/h wind gusts. Up to quarter size hail. Locations impacted include: Belleville, Kingston, Trenton, Napanee, Gananoque, Trenton Junction, Bayside, Bayview, Amherstview, Sharpton-Glenvale, Mile Square, Cataraqui Westbrook, Elmwood, Westbrook Heights, Lawrence Park, Collins Bay, Balmoral Park, High Gate Park, Bayridge West and Westwoods. Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Intense lightning is likely with any thunderstorm that develops. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Emergency Management Ontario recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches. Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
