10:54 PM NDT Monday 29 July 2024 Heat Warning in effect for: St. John''s and vicinity A period of very warm weather is expected. Time span: tonight through Tuesday. Minimum temperature tonight: near 20 degrees Celsius. Maximum daytime temperature on Tuesday: near 28 degrees Celsius, except cooler along parts of the coast. Locations: St. John''s and vicinity and Avalon Peninsula North. Remarks: The very warm air mass over the region will persist through Tuesday. The warmest conditions will occur inland away from the coast. Temperatures are forecast to stay below heat warning criteria on Wednesday. Extreme heat can affect everyone?s health. The health risks are greater for older adults, infants and young children, pregnant people, people with physical and/or mental illnesses, and people with disabilities or mobility issues. Reduce your heat risk. Schedule outdoor activities during the coolest parts of the day. Never leave people, particularly children, or pets inside a parked vehicle. Heat warnings are issued when very high temperature or humidity conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion.
