| Detailed Description | * WHAT. Mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 8 inches north of Talkeetna, including Broad Pass. Total snow accumulations of up to 1 inch with ice accumulations of up to two tenths of an inch around Talkeetna. Ice accumulations up to one tenth of an inch as far south as Willow. * WHERE. Susitna Valley. * WHEN. From 10 AM this morning to 1 AM AKDT Tuesday. * IMPACTS. Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning and afternoon commute. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS. A complex storm system will bring precipitation and warmer air to the Susitna Valley through early Tuesday morning. Precipitation is expected to begin as all snow north of Talkeetna and a mix of snow and freezing rain from Talkeetna south; however, southerly winds will bring warmer air from south to north across the valley through tonight. Colder air near the surface will linger from Willow to Talkeetna, resulting in an extended period freezing rain before a changeover to all rain. For Broad Pass, freezing rain may mix with the snow at times. The highest snow amounts will be in Broad Pass. The mixed precipitation will taper off early Tuesday morning. |
