2:32 AM CDT Wednesday 21 August 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Warning in effect for: Churchill At 2:31 AM CDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing very strong wind gusts, nickel to ping pong ball size hail and heavy rain. Severe thunderstorms continue to track northeast through the area. The strongest storms will pose a risk of large hail and locally damaging wind gusts. Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Intense lightning is likely with any thunderstorm that develops. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
