10:54 AM CDT Monday 22 July 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Warning in effect for: Mun. of Rhineland incl. Altona Plum Coulee and Gretna At 10:53 AM CDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing up to nickel size hail and heavy rain. As of 10:50 am a severe thunderstorm continues to affect the Altona region. The thunderstorm is moving very slowly, hence total rainfall in excess of 50 mm is likely. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
