1:45 AM CST Saturday 24 August 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Warning in effect for: City of Regina At 1:45 AM CST, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a line of dangerous thunderstorms capable of producing damaging wind gusts, up to nickel size hail and heavy rain. This line extends from Regina south to the international border near Lake Alma and west to Rockglen, moving northeast at 45 km/h. Hazard: 110 km/h wind gusts, toonie sized hail, and over 50 mm of rainfall. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Very strong wind gusts can damage buildings, down trees and blow large vehicles off the road. Intense lightning is likely with any thunderstorm that develops. Thunderstorms continue across southern and central Saskatchewan and will last into the morning. Some of these thunderstorms will be severe. Strong winds and heavy rain are the prevailing threats. Watches will be extended as the situation develops. Very large hail can damage property, break windows, dent vehicles and cause serious injury. Very strong wind gusts can damage buildings, down trees and blow large vehicles off the road. Locally heavy rain is also possible. Intense lightning is likely with any thunderstorm that develops.
