| Detailed Description | 3:29 PM EDT Tuesday 21 May 2024 Rainfall Warning in effect for: Nipigon - Rossport Heavy rain and strong winds beginning this evening. Hazards: Total rainfall amounts near 50 mm. Wind gusts up to 70 km/h. Timing: This evening through Wednesday evening. Discussion: Heavy rain is expected to begin this evening as a strong low pressure system moves into the area. The heavy rain will taper to light rain Wednesday afternoon before ending Wednesday evening. In addition, strong easterly winds gusting up to 70 km/h will develop tonight and then become southerly Wednesday morning. Winds will diminish Wednesday evening. Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage. Utility outages may occur. For information concerning flooding, please consult your local Conservation Authority or Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry office. Visit Ontario.ca/floods for the latest details. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.
