Brief Description Hydrologic Outlook
Detailed Description ESFMFL A well-defined tropical wave near Hispaniola is forecast to move west northwest and be in the southeastern Gulf Of Mexico late this weekend into early next week. This should allow for deep tropical moisture to work into South Florida this weekend allowing for the PWAT values to get up 2.1 to 2.4 inch. These PWAT values are near the maximum PWAT values for this time of year leading to the potential of heavy rainfall with any showers or thunderstorms that do develop this weekend. Rainfall totals at this time look to be 1 to 3 inches over the eastern half to 2 to 4 inches over the western half of South Florida with locally higher amounts possible where any showers or thunderstorms train over the same area. Rainfall amounts will likely continue to fluctuate as we progress forward in time. Users are encouraged to not fixate on current projected values as the eventual trajectory and structure of the potential tropical feature could dictate where the heaviest rainfall falls. Stay tuned to additional updates for the latest most accurate forest. If forecast confidence increases, a Flood Watch may be needed for portions of South Florida for a portion of the upcoming weekend into early next week.
