| Detailed Description | An arctic front will move across the Interior today, which will usher in blustery westerly winds and accumulating snow showers, with wind gusts into the 25 to 35 mph range. Snow accumulations will also impact the morning commute, so residents are advised to leave plenty of time. High pressure will then settle over the region Friday morning through Sunday morning, which will result in morning low temperatures falling across the Interior to well below seasonal normals. This will represent the coldest temps of the season thus far, with lower elevation valley locations dropping into the single digits, with a 20 percent chance of below zero temps across the typical very cold valley locations by Saturday morning. Residents are advised to make proper cold weather preparations in advance. Attention turns to a developing winter storm which is currently projected to impact the Interior late Sunday night/early Monday morning and lasting into the middle of next week. Significant accumulations of snowfall are possible across a wide swath of the Interior, as the southwest flow pattern will have plenty of moist air from the Bering Sea to work with. Mixed rain/snow is also possible during this storm event, so disruptions to travel are likely early next week. |
