Detailed Description 10:42 AM ADT Wednesday 10 July 2024 Heat Warning in effect for: Prince County P.E.I. A period of very warm and humid weather continues today. Time span: continuing today. Maximum temperature today: 28 degrees Celsius (Humidex 36). Location: Prince Edward Island. Remarks: Cooler conditions can be expected along parts of the coast. Extreme heat can affect everyone?s health. Watch for the effects of heat illness: swelling, rash, cramps, fainting, heat exhaustion, heat stroke and the worsening of some health conditions. Limit direct sun exposure. Shade yourself by wearing a wide-brimmed, breathable hat and/or an umbrella. Watch for early signs of heat illness (feeling unwell, fatigue, thirst, headache) as these can rapidly evolve into life-threatening emergencies. Move to a cooler environment immediately, such as a shaded or air-conditioned space. Heat warnings are issued when very high temperature or humidity conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion. Rain, at times heavy, is expected. Locations: Prince County. Total rainfall: 40 to 60 mm, except locally 80 mm or more in areas of heaviest rain. Time span: Tonight until Thursday evening. Similar storms in the past have caused: - the overflowing of creeks and rivers - localized flooding in poor drainage areas - road shoulder erosion and washouts Remarks: A disorganized weather system containing the moisture from the remnants of Beryl is expected to move over western PEI later tonight. High Rainfall rates of 20 to 30 mm per hour may occur over some locations, leading to variable rainfall accumulations over short distances. Conditions may change rapidly, with heavy, torrential downpours. Watch for possible washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts. Rainfall warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected.
