| Detailed Description | 3:48 PM EDT Friday 26 July 2024 Heat Warning in effect for: Sioux Narrows - Nestor Falls - Morson A heat event is expected to continue into Saturday. Maximum daytime temperatures of near 30 degrees Celsius are expected, with humidex values approaching 37. Overnight minimum temperatures will be 17 to 19 degrees Celsius. At this time, a cooler and less humid airmass is expected to arrive Saturday night. Extreme heat can affect everyone?s health. The health risks are greater for older adults, infants and young children, pregnant people, people with physical and/or mental illnesses, and people with disabilities or mobility issues. Never leave people, particularly children, or pets inside a parked vehicle. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. Watches 6:19 PM EDT Friday 26 July 2024 Tornado Watch in effect for: Sioux Narrows - Nestor Falls - Morson Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms which may produce tornadoes. Strong winds, large hail and heavy rain are also possible. Hazards: Risk of a tornado Strong wind gusts up to 100 km/h Loonie sized hail Timing: Late this afternoon and this evening. Discussion: An approaching cold front may trigger severe thunderstorms late this afternoon and this evening. Be prepared for severe weather. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. In the event of a tornado, or if a tornado warning is issued for your area, it is recommended you take the following actions: Go indoors to a room on the lowest floor, away from outside walls and windows, such as a basement, bathroom, stairwell or interior closet. Leave mobile homes, vehicles, tents, trailers and other temporary or free-standing shelter, and move to a strong building if you can. As a last resort, lie in a low spot and protect your head from flying debris. Emergency Management Ontario recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches. Tornado watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce tornadoes.
