Brief Description SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH
Detailed Description 6:52 AM CST Friday 12 July 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Warning in effect for: R.M. of Orkney including Yorkton Springside and Ebenezer At 6:52 AM CST, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing very strong wind gusts, up to nickel size hail and heavy rain. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Intense lightning is likely with any thunderstorm that develops. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall. Watches 4:25 AM CST Friday 12 July 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect for: R.M. of Orkney including Yorkton Springside and Ebenezer Conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing damaging wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain. Thunderstorms continue as a weak cold front travels through Saskatchewan. These thunderstorms will move towards the east or southeast early Friday morning. Some may remain severe for the next few hours. Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Very strong wind gusts can damage buildings, down trees and blow large vehicles off the road. Intense lightning is likely with any thunderstorm that develops. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.
