8:24 PM PDT Monday 22 July 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Warning in effect for: Prince George At 8:23 PM PDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a cluster of severe thunderstorms capable of producing very strong wind gusts, up to nickel size hail and heavy rain. The cluster of severe thunderstorms is just north of Prince George northwards at 50 km/h. It will impact communities along Highway 97 from Salmon Valley to Bear Lake in the next hour. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall. Very large hail can damage property, break windows, dent vehicles and cause serious injury. Very strong wind gusts can damage buildings, down trees and blow large vehicles off the road.
