Brief Description SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH
Detailed Description 5:40 PM EDT Saturday 13 July 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Warning in effect for: Upsala - Raith At 4:40 PM CDT (4:40 p.m. EST, 5:40 p.m. EDT), Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing very strong wind gusts, up to nickel size hail and heavy rain. This line of severe thunderstorms is located from 55 kilometres northeast of Wabakimi Provincial Park to 11 kilometres south of Obonga-Ottertooth Provincial Park to 15 kilometres southwest of Burchell Lake, moving east at 60 km/h. Hazard: Up to 90 km/h wind gusts. Up to nickel size hail. Heavy rain with local rainfall amounts 50 to 75 mm possible. Locations impacted include: Upsala, Kashabowie Provincial Park, Obonga-Ottertooth Provincial Park, Kopka River Provincial Park, Gull River Provincial Park, Gull Bay, Armstrong, Burchell Lake, Lac des Mille Lacs, Kashabowie, Neba Lake, Muriel Lake, Kashabowie Lake, Shebandowan Lakes, Little Athelstane Lake, Savanne, Athelstane Lake, Ricestalk Lake, Sharp Lake and Grew Lake. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Intense lightning is likely with any thunderstorm that develops. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Daytime maximum temperatures are expected to be near 30 degrees Celsius, with humidex values near 36. There will be little relief at night as minimum temperatures of 18 to 20 degrees Celsius are expected. A cooler airmass will arrive on Sunday. Extreme heat can affect everyone?s health. Drink plenty of water regularly, even before you feel thirsty to decrease your risk of dehydration. Thirst is not a good indicator of dehydration. Reduce your heat risk. Schedule outdoor activities during the coolest parts of the day. Never leave people, particularly children, or pets inside a parked vehicle. Watches 10:39 AM EDT Saturday 13 July 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect for: Upsala - Raith Conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing damaging wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain. Timing: This afternoon into this evening. Hazard: Wind gusts up to 100 km/h. Hail of 2 to 3 cm. Heavy rain with local rainfall amounts up to 50 mm possible. Very strong wind gusts can damage buildings, down trees and blow large vehicles off the road. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!
