6:25 AM CDT Saturday 13 July 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Warning in effect for: R.M. of St. Laurent incl. Oak Point At 6:24 AM CDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking an area of severe thunderstorms capable of producing very strong wind gusts, up to nickel size hail and heavy rain. These thunderstorms are between Lake Manitoba and Brunkild and are moving east at 30 km/h. They have a history of producing 90 to 110 km/h wind gusts. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year.
