Brief Description SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT
Detailed Description 11:40 PM EDT Wednesday 7 August 2024 Special Weather Statement in effect for: Shawinigan area Heavy rain to round off the week. The level of confidence is increasing for significant rainfall amounts on Friday and Saturday. Amounts between 50 and 100 millimetres over a 24-hour period are possible. The heaviest showers will likely occur in the Friday evening and overnight periods. The scenario remains complex. Uncertainty remains with regard to the highest expected amounts and the hardest hit areas. Heavy rain may cause flash flooding and ponding on roads. Flooding is possible in low-lying areas. This rain will be caused by a low pressure system interacting with the moisture associated with tropical storm Debby. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
