9:31 PM EDT Thursday 13 June 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Warning in effect for: Barry''s Bay - Killaloe Renfrew - Arnprior - Calabogie At 9:31 PM EDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a dangerous thunderstorm capable of producing damaging wind gusts, up to nickel size hail and heavy rain. This line of severe thunderstorms is located from Mayhew to Mud Turtle Lake, moving east at 60 km/h. Hazard: Up to 120 km/h wind gusts. Up to quarter size hail. Risk of a tornado. Locations impacted include: Renfrew, Arnprior, Bannockburn, Bon Echo Provincial Park, Bon Echo, Kaladar, Plevna, Calabogie, Millbridge, Lingham Lakes, Sheldrake Lake, Skootamatta Lake, Cloyne, Northbrook, Kashwakamak Lake, Matawatchan, Harlowe, Centennial Lake, Bordenwood and Big Gull Lake. Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Very strong wind gusts can damage buildings, down trees and blow large vehicles off the road. Intense lightning is likely with any thunderstorm that develops. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Tents, vehicles, mobile homes and trailers offer little protection. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Emergency Management Ontario recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches. Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall. Discussion: Severe thunderstorms will continue to track through the region this evening. This is a dangerous and potentially life-threatening situation. Be prepared for severe weather. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. In the event of a tornado, or if a tornado warning is issued for your area, it is recommended you take the following actions: Go indoors to a room on the lowest floor, away from outside walls and windows, such as a basement, bathroom, stairwell or interior closet. Leave mobile homes, vehicles, tents, trailers and other temporary or free-standing shelter, and move to a strong building if you can.
