| Detailed Description | WIDELY SCATTERED STORMS WITH FREQUENT LIGHTNING THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING. .Widely scattered thunderstorms are anticipated to develop this afternoon and evening capable of producing frequent cloud to ground lighting and strong wind gusts up to 45 mph. While chances of wetting rain with storms that materialize are elevated at 50% or more, a higher storm coverage is anticipated compared to yesterday/Friday with an overall higher lightning risk. Of which, rainfall amounts approaching 0.25 inches will be likely with some storms due to storms moving around 5-15 mph. Higher wetting rainfall amounts above 0.25 inches cannot be ruled out for storms with much slower movement. The National Weather Service in Pendleton has issued a Red Flag Warning for abundant lightning, which is in effect from 11 AM this morning to 10 PM PDT this evening. * AFFECTED AREA. Fire Weather Zones 690 Kittitas Valley, 694 Yakama Alpine District and 695 East Washington South Central Cascade Mountains. * THUNDERSTORMS. Abundant lightning with frequent cloud to ground lightning strikes. * OUTFLOW WINDS. Gusty winds up to 45 mph. * IMPACTS. Lightning may result in new fire starts. Gusty outflow winds will be capable of rapid fire spread and causing erratic wind directions. |
