| Detailed Description | 4:03 PM EDT Wednesday 14 August 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Warning in effect for: Verchères - Beloeil area At 4:03 PM EDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing strong wind gusts, up to nickel size hail and heavy rain. The cells will affect the eastern part of Montreal Island before reaching the south shore of the river. Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Avoid driving through water on roads. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
