Brief Description Special Marine Warning
Detailed Description SMWLWX The National Weather Service in Sterling Virginia has issued a * Special Marine Warning for. Chesapeake Bay from Drum Point MD to Smith Point VA. Chesapeake Bay from North Beach to Drum Point MD. Chesapeake Bay from Sandy Point to North Beach MD. Choptank River to Cambridge MD and the Little Choptank River. Eastern Bay. Patuxent River to Broomes Island MD. * Until 330 AM EDT. * At 131 AM EDT, gust fronts were located along a line extending from Gibson Island to Mayo to 6 nm west of Chesapeake Beach, moving southeast at 35 knots. HAZARD. Wind gusts 34 knots or greater. SOURCE. Radar indicated and observed wind along the western shore. IMPACT. Boaters in small craft could be thrown overboard by suddenly higher winds and waves capsizing their vessel. * Locations impacted include. Greenwell State Park, Choptank River, Saint Leonard Creek, Knapps Narrows Bridge, Tilghman Island, Blackwalnut Point, Chesapeake Beach, Cuckold Creek, North Beach, Drum Point, Herring Bay, Sandy Point State Park, Romancoke, Bloody Point Light, Matapeake, Chesapeake Bay Bridge, Calvert Cliffs, Thomas Point Light, James Island, and Poplar Island.
