| Detailed Description | 5:08 PM EDT Sunday 25 August 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Warning in effect for: Vaudreuil area At 5:08 PM EDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking an area of severe thunderstorms capable of producing very strong wind gusts, up to nickel size hail and heavy rain. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall. These storms will move slowly. Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Water-related activities may be unsafe due to violent and sudden gusts of wind over bodies of water.
